Find your vocal range
Your range is the span from the lowest to the highest note you can sing clearly. The pitch monitor keeps both for you.
How to measure it
- Warm up for a few minutes first.
- Press Start, then sing down a scale, slowly, until your voice cannot hold the note. Then sing up to your highest comfortable note.
- A note counts once you hold it clearly for a quarter of a second. Read range under the picture.
Typical ranges
| Voice type | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Bass | E2 – E4 |
| Baritone | A2 – A4 |
| Tenor | C3 – C5 |
| Alto | F3 – F5 |
| Mezzo-soprano | A3 – A5 |
| Soprano | C4 – C6 |
Voice type is also about the colour of your voice and where it is most comfortable, not only its extremes; a teacher can tell you more.
